Professional Mediation Training (40 hours)

Why learn how to mediate?

Mediation is an effective way to resolve disputes effectively, confidentially, and out of court. In this professional 40-hour training presented by our highly skilled training team, you will learn and practice the skills required to become a neutral facilitative mediator in any setting.

Conflict is normal and inevitable - whether in the home, school, community, workplace, or place of worship. Leaders in all walks of life have a responsibility to help others work through their conflicts.

With additional training, mediator certification is available through the DRC.

Family Mediation Training

Cost: $200 per person, scholarships available. Inquire about group rates.

This 20-hour advanced training will provide grounding in issues particular to the concerns of couples who are divorced, divorcing, or separated, and those who share the simultaneous challenges of childrearing.   

Vital to successful family mediation is an understanding of the potential effects of divorce or separation on the parties and the children of the family and the complexities of communication between parties who must lead separate lives yet continue a co-parenting relationship.

In this 20-hour training we will give particular focus to issues related to dissolution and property division, as well as parenting issues and the development and use of the Washington State parenting plan form.  Our goals are to ensure mediator comfort and familiarity with this document and to develop the ability to assist clients in negotiating a complete parenting plan.

Having Difficult Conversations Training (4 hours)

This half-day training will focus on communication and conflict resolution skills to address workplace problems and disputes.  

The skills learned in this training will be useful in all settings where people interact with one another, such as between coworkers, with customers, between supervisors and employees, and in personal relationships as well.  

Participants will leave with concrete methods for addressing conflict in their workplaces and in their lives.

Restorative Practices (12 hours)

Restorative practice emphasizes accountability and the restoration of relationship.  This two-day training provides a framework for community leaders to work with schools, faith communities, and other relevant organizations to establish and maintain good relationships at the structural (rules/policies) and at the personal levels.
