The Dispute Resolution Center offers mediation training and workshops on conflict resolution, communication and mediation skills throughout the year.
Who can use mediation training?
Mediation training can be used in all aspects of your life. You will learn how to:
- Reduce the intensity of a conflict
- Create peaceful relationships
- Develop calming verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Understand conflict dynamics, styles, and resolution concepts.
- Improve your negotiation skills
- Enhance your effectiveness in meetings
- Begin the process of becoming a certified mediator
Mediation is not only an increasingly popular way to resolve disputes effectively, confidentially and out of court, but it can enhance your own personal skills. In this 40-hour training presented by our highly skilled training team, you will learn and practice the skills required to become a neutral third-party mediator.
Cost is generally $500 for residents of Yakima and Kittitas Counties. Some partial scholarships may be available.

Workplace Communication & Conflict Resolution Skills:
Is workplace conflict affecting your bottom line? Workplace conflict leads to lost productivity, more sick time, increased litigation and higher employee turnover. This workshop focuses on communication and conflict resolution skills to address workplace problems and disputes. Cost: $200. Discounts may be available for organizations sending 3 or more.
